Having access to this resource means I can sit in Starbucks wearing my Kathmandu down jacket, whilst watching a concert recording of Andris Nelsons conducting Mahler’s 2nd Symphony. All while sipping on my Chai Latte. 10/10
This data base is good
The Digital Concert Hall – Berliner Philharmoniker is a comprehensive, best-quality resource. A subscription would give UoM staff and students access to outstanding classical music performances by renowned singers, conductors and musicians. The archival material includes historical interviews, and is essential for study and research.
This is, I believe, an invaluable resource for music students. The great wealth of performances of the absolute highest quality available on this platform gives students access to so much of what they need. Music students, specifically those aiming for an orchestral career, need to understand the discipline they are trying to enter – the digital concert hall gives them access to be able to learn so much of that. I hope the university can continue to provide this resource beyond a trial period.
